Prospects no longer will have limits on the number of schools they can officially visit during their college selection process. The NCAA announced Thursday that its Division I Council approved the policy change that will take effect on July 1. Prospects previously could make official visits to five schools. Official visits are defined as visits that are paid for by the college. Prospects can make one official visit to each school, unless that program has a head coaching change. In that case, a prospect could make a second official visit to the same school. In men’s basketball, prospects will be permitted to make two official visits to the same school, as long as the visits don’t occur in the same academic year.“For young people considering where to go to college, visits to campus — both official and unofficial — are an integral part of the decision-making process,” Lynda Tealer, executive associate athletics director at Florida and chair of the Division I Council, said in a statement...Thousands to lose aid under Iowa bill backed by lawmakers

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Thousands of Iowa residents would be expected to lose Medicaid and food stamp benefits under a bill given final legislative approval Thursday and sent to Gov. Kim Reynolds. The state House approved the bill, which would change eligibility requirements and require more checks that people qualify for benefits, ultimately resulting in the removal of an estimated 1% of recipients and saving the state roughly $8 million annually beginning in 2027. A legislative analysis found that 1% would translate to the removal of about 8,000 Medicaid recipients and 2,800 recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps. The Senate previously approved the measure, which passed both chambers with only Republican support. The bill now goes to Reynolds, a Republican who is expected to sign it into law.Republican Rep. Joel Fry said the bill takes nothing away from people who are eligible for benefits.“If you’re eligible for the benefit, you...NTI remove twins with Kingston ties from enrolment list, ask for investigation

Caraveo about Republicans aiming for her seat, and much more, this week on Colorado Point of View. The National Republican Congressional Committee listed Rep. Caraveo’s seat as one of 37 that are “vulnerable” in 2024. Meanwhile the conservative, “American Action Network” launched a campaign a last month pushing the Congresswoman to vote for the House GOP’s “Lower Energy Costs Act,” which would increase domestic oil production, a key industry in the 8th District. She ultimately voted against it.“But the concentration of lowering costs was not really what was in the bill itself,” Rep. Caraveo said. “What they were doing is attacking things and coming at things in a...Florida Legislature passes 6-week abortion ban, DeSantis supports it

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — The Republican-dominated Florida Legislature on Thursday approved a ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, a proposal supported by GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis as he prepares for an expected presidential run.DeSantis is expected to sign the bill into law. Florida currently prohibits abortions after 15 weeks.A six-week ban would give DeSantis a key political victory among Republican primary voters as he prepares to launch a presidential candidacy built on his national brand as a conservative standard bearer. The policy would also have wider implications for abortion access throughout the South in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision last year overturning Roe v. Wade and leaving decisions about abortion access to states. Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi have banned abortion at all stages of pregnancy, while Georgia forbids the procedure after cardiac activity can be detected, which is around six weeks.“We have the opportunity to lead the natio...Malaysia Babydoll Foxx talks Miami Beach Pride, new single, competing on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’
